TheFork Gift Card

TheFork Gift Cards work inside TheFork app: you add the code to your account, then pay your restaurant bill with TheFork PAY. Gift cards cannot be managed or used from a computer.

Adding the gift card to your account:

1. Open TheFork app on your smartphone and sign in.
2. Tap Profile (bottom right).
3. Tap Gift Card.
4. Under My Gift Cards, tap Add Gift Card.
5. Enter the 12-digit alphanumeric code. The digit zero (0) and the letter O look similar, so try both if the code is not accepted.
6. Tap Add (top right).

The code must have a positive balance and must not already be linked to another TheFork account. Once added, a gift card cannot be removed from the account.

Paying at the restaurant:

1. Book a restaurant that accepts TheFork PAY: on the app home page, apply the filter Payment method: TheFork PAY.
2. During your meal, open the app and tap the PAY banner on the home page, or tap Bookings, open the active booking and tap PAY WITH THEFORK PAY.
3. Follow the on-screen steps to enter the amount and confirm. You can pay the full bill or only part of it, and choose whether to leave a tip.
4. You receive a confirmation by email, and the payment stays available in the TheFork PAY section of the app.

Simply tell the restaurant you want to pay with TheFork PAY. Payment is possible from the start of the meal until 5 hours afterwards, and TheFork PAY cannot be used to pre-pay a meal.

You can use up to five Gift Cards in the same transaction, and use a card as many times as you like until its balance runs out. If the bill is higher than your balance, cover the rest with an additional payment method in the same TheFork PAY transaction, or pay the difference directly at the restaurant.

This gift card can be used to pay at restaurants in Portugal. Your remaining balance is shown in the Gift Card section of your profile in the app. More on TheFork PAY: support.thefork.com

TheFork is the restaurant booking platform used across Portugal, with thousands of partner venues ranging from neighbourhood tables to MICHELIN Guide kitchens, and bill payment handled in the app.

• Restaurant meals: Pay for food and drinks at participating TheFork partner restaurants throughout Portugal, from Lisbon and Porto to the Algarve
• MICHELIN Guide kitchens: Book a table at higher-end partner restaurants, including venues listed in the MICHELIN Guide, and settle the bill with TheFork PAY
• Extra purchases: Cover food and drink products the restaurant offers for sale alongside your meal, when they are added to the same bill
• Several reservations: Put the whole balance towards one dinner or spread it across multiple bookings, with anything left over staying on your TheFork account
• Larger bills: Top up with a registered card or another payment method in TheFork PAY whenever the restaurant total runs above the card balance

You can use it to pay for meals, food and drinks, at participating TheFork partner restaurants located in Portugal. It also covers food and drink products the restaurant sells when those are added to your bill.

You can still pay with the gift card and cover the remaining amount with a credit card registered in TheFork PAY, or with any other payment method.

First add the gift card code to your account in TheFork app. You can then see the balance in the "My Gift Cards" section of the app.

No. The gift card can only be used by paying with TheFork PAY, so the code has to be added to your TheFork account and the restaurant has to accept TheFork PAY.
